Hello all,

In this blog I will be talking about famous places for shopping in Pune.

As said Pune is the Oxford of east, having best educational institutes from Govt. to private. Therefore Pune is always crowded because of students coming from all over India and also from foreign countries. These young population in colleges bring new fashion styles from all around the world. So in Pune we get all different kind of fashion in clothing, handbags, jewellry and accessories for ladies varying from traditional to western fashion. 

So here are the list of areas for shopping in Pune:

1. Laxmi road 

Laxmi road is old and famous place for shopping. It has everything for shopping ranging from clothes/ accessories/handbags for babies to to Grown ups. It is the most busiest market in pune. Mostly this road Contain mix variety of clothes cheap to expensive, branded to local. If you want to shop for wedding then Laxmi road is the best place for it. You will get to shop all the things you wanted to shop for weddings such as Bridal sarees and dresses, traditional dresses for men and women. Laxmi road also have so many Gold jewellery shops which has beautiful designs. 

There are many tailor shops which are helpful for stitching the dresses and blouses.

2. Tulsi baug

Tulsi baug is also old place for shopping and it is situated in Laxmi road in front of famous Vishrambag wada. Tulsi baug is mainly famous for street shopping. The shops in there has lot of variety in clothes, jewelry, footwear, handbags, accessories, etc. It also provide good shops which sell traditional Maharashtrian cooking items, cosmetics and household goods, as well as Puja items.

You have to be very good in bargaining while shopping in Tulsi baug.

3. Ravivar Peth 

Ravivar peth is mainly famous for the wholesale suppliers, but it also has many retail shops which provide large variety of sarees, dresses, jewellery, footwear. 

You will find good variety of bangles and bridal imitation jewellery. 

And if you have a birthday party or some event you can get all the important stuff which are required.

4. Fergusson College road 

Mainly called as F.C. road, is famous because of the old Fergusson college. It has many branded stores as well as street shops, where you can buy Trendy clothes, handbags, accessories for ladies. FC road also has many fast food joints in which you can enjoy delicious food while shopping.

5. Hong kong lane 

Hong Kong lane is famous for fancy accessories for men and women such as Earrings, Neck pieces, Footwear, hairband, bracelets, Key-chain, hair accessories, finger rings, Mobile covers, belts, etc.

It is a very small lane for shopping but always crowded with customers. 

6. M. G. Road 

M. G. (Mahatma Gandhi) road is one of the oldest street for shopping, it mostly contains branded store with some local shops. It also has food joints for enjoying food with shopping. 

It has many boutique stores which offers good variety of ladies as well as gents clothes and accessories.

7. Clover center

Clover center is a shopping mall situated in Camp near M. G Road. It has many small boutique shops, Tailoring shops, accessories, etc. You will also find some shops which have the raw material needed to stitch dresses. 

8. Fashion street 

It is situated in camp area and has many street shops for men, women and kids. Here also you have to be very good in bargaining. 

9. Koregaon Park 

KP is famous for western clothes an accessories for woman. Many shops have high street western fashion aimed at a younger crowd. You will happy with the collection of well designed dresses for women. It also has fine collection in handbags, accessories and western jewellery. 

These are the famous main markets in pune. Some of the other places where you will get good fashionable branded or local clothes/accessories are Aundh, Deccan, Khadki bazzar, Pimmple Saudagar, Pimpri, Etc.

WHAT IS FASHION?

What is fashion???

Exact definition of fashion as given in Wikipedia is: Fashion is a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, body, or furniture. Fashion is a distinctive and often habitual trend in the style in which a person dresses. It is the prevailing styles in behaviour and the newest creations of textile designers.

They also say Fashion is a Statement, Not a Style. Fashion does not have to be worn casually, nor outside the runway. Fashion is fit for all sizes, for all people of all ages. Fashion is an art of personal Self-expression, Not an excuse to be pretty, poplar and charismatic.



For Indians Fashion is what we see in the papers, magazines, movies or websites. All the fashionable items shown are really beautiful and stunning. But the thing is we can’t wear what we see as most of the clothes or other fancy items are very costly which are not affordable to everyone.

So what exactly is fashion for common woman (Common woman here i mean,  The one who stays in not so modern surrounding, the one who can not afford the "fashionable" items, the one who actually likes to wear the latest fashion but cant wear due to her social boundaries)???

- Is it what others are wearing???

- Is it what we see around the world...??

- Is it what other tell you wear??


there are many answer to that...

Meaning of "Fashion" is different for different people.

- For a college going girl fashion is to wear trendy and latest fashion to look pretty and be competitive with other girls in her surrounding.
These girls will look for cheaper but trendy places for shopping. Also some in college will only prefer branded clothes specially international brands.

- For married girls fashion is to look good for partner and in laws. They specifically prefer clothes which are good in quality.

But some married girls cant wear what they like as they have to wear the clothes preffered or selected by her partner or in-laws.
Some girls will prefer to wear clothes which are comfortable.

Some girls who are little big in size will have to purchase the clothes which are available in her size, compromising other factors such as latest trend or quality or money.

Some with the money will only buy the clothes or accessories in branded store, shopping malls or special boutiques which have trendy and latest fashion in clothing and accessories.

So as per my knowledge shopping of woman is divided as mentioned above.
